The Secret You Don't Know About Free Medicine from Pharmaceutical ...

Medical insurance costs are skyrocketing and many places of employment no longer supply medical insurance without a major dip into your pocketbook. The impact of under-insured or uninsured Americans and senior citizens are taking a toll on households across U.S.

I have been without insurance. At one time I had to purchase medicine with a price tag of over $1,900 a month. Because of that time, I was inspired to find out what I could do to help defray the cost of the medicine.

What I discovered is one of the best kept secrets in the medical industry. The secret is that pharmaceutical companies and major pharmaceutical company sponsors provide free prescription medicines to individuals and families that qualify.

For those individuals and families who can’t afford the cost of or the co-payment their prescription medications require, help has been around for years. The first step is to find out who manufactures the prescriptions you are taking.

Once you know the manufacturer, go to their website and download their application or apply online for their program. Some of the pharmaceutical websites and pharmaceutical company sponsors have websites that have the program information easily available.

Other websites you will have to search to find the program. Once you either fill out their application online or downloaded the application, you will in most cases need to get a signed consent form from your doctor to fax or send to the company. Every program has different rules and procedures.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to help you, your family and friend defray a bit of the medical costs from your budget.

Blood Pressure and Prostrate Conditions

High blood pressure and prostrate problems are some of the most uncomfortable ailments to have to deal with. Fluid intake has to be watched, too much can cause an increase in blood pressure and cardiac complications as well as prostate problems related to the frequent urination associated with the excessive fluids in the body. Often patients feel as though they are caught in the middle of a vicious cycle that cannot be broken.

Physicians use Hytrin to bring high blood pressure into control, often this medication is used for benign prostate afflictions as well. Hytrin works on the muscles that are around the prostrate. These muscles need to relax to allow the bladder to work properly.

Hytrin is used to reduce high blood pressure and must be used regularly to be effective. Blood pressure may take several weeks to return to a normal level with the use of Hytrin. It is important to continue taking this medication while your blood pressure is returning to a normal level. High blood pressure is not cured by hytrin, if you stop taking this medication the effects will go away and high blood pressure will return.

Results with Hytrin are noticeable as early as a week into treatment but optimal results aren't reached for several weeks. Discuss changes with your doctor, this will help your doctor know how to adjust your dosage.

Side Effects

Taking Hytrin will help to control blood pressure, you can take this medication with or without food. It is suggested that you take this medication, or at least the first dose of this medication, at bedtime. The first dose is generally no higher than one milligram.

Not all side effects can be prevented or even predicted in advance, individual medical background must be taken into consideration.

Common side effects include:

Swollen wrists and ankles as well as other joints

Sleepiness

Nausea

Difficulty breathing

Dizziness

Headaches

General weakness

Heart palpitations

Most side effects are temporary and will go away with treatment. If you notice a change in side effects or if you have any other concerns you should discuss it with your physician immediately.

Clomid for Infertility: What You Must Know

Clomid as an infertility drug is considered to be the cornerstone of all other medications that have followed the trend. While many years have passed since Clomid was first introduced into the market, it is still the same drug as it was before that most infertile couples come in contact with initially before everything assumed their places in the industry.

Clomid, an infertility drug that appears in other names like CC, Clomiphene citrate, Serophene or simply Clomid is considerably inexpensive as compared with the brands that have invaded the market recently. Its main uses are focused on ovulation problems by means of oral consumption rather than via injection.

While it was produced several years earlier than its predecessor, the workings of the drug still facilitate in a very complicated fashion but with desirable potency. It does not have effects on women whose ovaries have already reached the termination of their use. Nonetheless, Clomid is still a very potent drug when it comes to inducing satisfactory effects on all estrogen receptors. Thus, it has the capacity of creating reactions on all body tissues, which contain estrogen receptors.

Tissues lying in organs like cervix, endometrium, pituitary, vagina and hypothalamus are some for which its known effects are working.

Clomid is also useful in assessing the possibility of using the potential ovary reserve in a female. And it is also utilized for patients with defects on their luteal phase.

Clomid, aside from its efficiency in working with estrogen, also has the property of influencing the functions of other four major and vital hormones in infertility namely GnRH, LH, FSH and estradiol.

Although we still have no complete understanding of the exact manners by which Clomid conducts its processes, it still seem pretty obvious that its major effects in the brain is to fool it into believing that the estrogen level of the system is low. Thus bringing a domino effect of releasing more hormones to compensate for the lack of hormones for which infertility is said to have rooted.

The effect of this normal reaction is to make the system a feasible environment for ovulation.

The known side effects though of using Clomid in aid of fertility are the following:
  • Multiple pregnancy

  • Ovarian enlargement

  • Pelvic and abdominal discomfort

  • Bloating or distention

  • Breast discomfort

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Abnormal uterine bleeding

  • Visual symptoms like appearances of waves, floaters, lights and etc.

  • While there may be side effects like these, Clomid is still clear of having any association with increase of congenital abnormalities, complications in pregnancy, birth defects appearing in children and premature labor.

    Epileptic Seizure Solution

Being a very unpredictable disease, epilepsy frequently rules the lives of those attacked by it. The solitary way to maintain control over symptoms is by using assorted combinations of anti-convulsive drugs and developing a well-balanced style of living that keeps excesses of all kinds away.

Mysoline, is an anti-convulsive drug that stops seizures triggered by epilepsy. This form of long-term treatment can be taken for an indefinite period of time. However long you keep taking it, be absolutely sure a close contact with your doctor is maintained for a professional monitoring of your condition.

    Treatment Specifics

This medication should be administered as suspension or capsules, and quantity depends on the intensity of the problem, body weight and age. If you choose Mysoline in liquid form, keep it in a dark location and vigorously shake the bottle prior to every usage to ascertain you get the accurate amount.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is within 1 hour of your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

    Warnings

The only health circumstance that is totally mismated is porphyria, an inherited metabolic disorder.

At the conclusion of treatment, never discontinue taking this medication abruptly, as this may contribute to stronger seizures than you've experienced previously. Withdrawal must be a gradual process.

Taking into consideration the fact that this drug is, for the most part, administered for an eminently

long period of time, intermittent blood tests are imperative to maintain an accurate view of your health condition, and to inhibit any possible system decline in quality.

    Beware of drug interactions

Prior to beginning any new drug therapy, make sure it doesn't interject with this medication.Or you risk to jeopardise the effectiveness of either. Medications that are susceptible to Mysoline incumbrance include: estrogen based oral contraceptives, certain antibiotics, blood-thinning drugs, anti-depressants and steroidal drugs

On that account, try to abstain from all alcoholic drinks while using this medication. In order to circumvent possible unwanted side effects, it is important to inform your health care provider on the use of this drug.

There are an abundance of other drugs that can be safely mixed with Mysoline without triggering any negative effects. Your doctor is the most qualified person to talk to when needing to interpret other assorted health troubles that inevitably appear.

Use this medication exactly as prescribed. Do not change from one manufacturer's product to another without consulting your doctor.

Continue taking Mysoline even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.

Mysoline gives you the effectiveness of phenobarbital plus additional protection. A patient whose seizures have not been controlled by phenobarbital may have better results from Mysoline.

study in children-which also included Depakote (valproate)-focused on the rate of side effects. Only 8% of the children who were given Mysoline had to stop taking it because of side effects. Phenobarbital, which can be an excellent medication, often is avoided in children because of the possibility of mental slowing. By using Mysoline alone, children can enjoy many of the same benefits while avoiding this problem because the amount of phenobarbital produced by breaking down the Mysoline is low.

It is important to remember that no single combination of antiepileptic medications is perfect for everyone. Sometimes, a series of combinations must be tried before finding what is best for the individual patient.

Accutane, The Good and The Bad

Accutane is patented by the well-known drug manufacturer Roche Pharmaceuticals. In the United States, it goes by the brand name of Isotretinoin. In other countries, Accutane is known as Roaccutane. Some generic versions are also now available. These are known as Amnesteem, Sotret and Claravis.

Isotretinoin is derived from the A vitamin very much like Retin-A, but unlike Retin-A, isotretinoin is taken orally rather than used on the skin. Vitamin A has been proven to be very healthy for the skin but the unfortunate aspect is that the human body doesn't always assimilate vitamin A very well. In addition, if taken in large amounts, it can build up to dangerous levels. These toxins then can cause serious side effects. This fact has caused the medical professionals to exercise caution.

Isotretinoin on the other hand is very effective in battling acne because it is the only medication that works in many ways. It reduces the size of the sebaceous glands, decreases cellular accumulation, eliminates bacteria and lessons inflammation. Another positive attribute of isotretinoin is that it continues to exhibit productive results well after the individual stops using it. This drug may have a long lasting, positive effect on the skin and in the curing of the nasty symptoms associated with acne.

Accutane's most frequently experienced side effects usually involve the skin. An individual's skin may become very dry and quite irritated. The mucus membranes may also feel very much the same. One's lips and or eyes may also become extremely dry and irritated. Some other side effects might be muscle pain, joint pain, headaches, or the thinning of hair.

There are other more serious side effects, which do seem to disappear once the medication is no longer taken. These may include colitis, loss of night vision, or hepatitis.

The most serious and permanent side effect that has occurred is the damage to the unborn child of a pregnant mother. Our medical professionals are well aware of the potential birth defects to the fetus. The Accutane warnings have always and still do indicate this unfortunate fact. The potential of birth defects cannot be underestimated. The risks are very high for the fetus and can be devastating even with the usage of very small doses.

Many women experience miscarriages while taking isotretinoin. The fact is that the numbers may as high as four out of ten pregnancies are terminated in this fashion. Consequently, many groups have petitioned for this drug to be taken off the market.

If a child is carried full term, the types of birth defects are numerous and varied. A few are facial and nervous system deformities, mental retardation, or severe learning and developmental disabilities. Some of these defects or disabilities have an effect on a child's IQ, which obviously can be a life long challenge.

The prescribing of Accutane is more involved than many other drugs. There are specific steps the physician must take before the prescription can be written. The patient must also go through a series of tests. She must agree to use birth control and undergo pregnancy tests.

These steps are all for the benefit of the unborn child. As good as Accutane can be in curing acne, it can be just as devastating to the fetus. Much caution must be exercised before prescribing and using.

    Shuddha Guggulu For Cholesterol Concerns

It is a common foodstuff carry tags claiming to be “free from cholesterol”, “low fat”. Lately, the word “cholesterol” has become a cursed word in the world health, and not without reason.

Although Cholesterol is required for various functions in the body, too much of it can be bad for your health as it can put you at risk of heart disease and stroke. Hence, keeping your cholesterol levels low is important, regardless of your age or health condition.

Although lifestyle changes like diet and exercise are essential in lowering your cholesterol levels, they may not be enough sometimes. Even if you exercise daily and eat right, you may still have a hard time lowering your cholesterol levels due to your age, gender or family history.

    Herbal remedy for Cholesterol Control

In Sanskrit, Guggulu means, “that which protects from disease”. Shuddha Guggulu, a traditional Ayurvedic medication used to treat high cholesterol, is widely used in India and was first recommended as a treatment for hardening of the arteries in 600 BC. This ancient diagnosis is similar to the modern description of atherosclerosis or blocking of arteries leading to problem with the heart.

Shuddha Guggulu is purified gum-resin exudates from the plant Commiphora wightii. Guggulu is a small to medium size tree found in the acrid regions of Arabia and India. The plant produces this gum when its bark is injured. Shuddha Guggulu helps to regulate lipid metabolism, which helps in weight control and body fat reduction.

Clinical research on Shuddha Guggulu shows reduction in total cholesterol levels and LDL cholesterol levels. Besides, the anti-inflammatory properties of Shuddha Guggulu also lower arthritis pain.

Side Effects Of Blood Pressure Medications

All blood pressure medication should lower blood pressure but in addition they can produce some undesirable side effects. Type of medication alter basic body functions not only in the blood vessels but in the nervous system and kidneys as well. Because all of the systems in the body are interconnected even drugs that effect only one type of molecule in the body will produce some type of side effect.

    Beta Blockers:

A common type of blood pressure medication like beta blockers are used to control cardiac arrhythmia or irregular heart beat. Beta blockers limit the ability of the heart to beat faster and as a result they reduce the ability of a person to exercise. Fatigue and the ability to react to the basic flight or fight response during an emergency situation is severely reduced. In June of 2006 the United Kingdom downgraded the use of beta-blockers for the elderly because of the increased risk of provoking type 2 diabetes. Other drugs were found to be much better in controlling high blood pressure.

    Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors:

Lisinopril is in a class of drugs called angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It is used to lower blood pressure by decreasing certain chemicals in the blood that tighten the blood vessels. In other words, lisinopril will dilate the blood vessels so blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently using less pressure. It is also used to treat congestive heart failure and to improve the survival rate after a heart attack. The most common side effect of Lisinopril is a violent, non-productive cough, dizziness, fatigue and flue like symptoms. Another side effect, though not very common but it is dangerous is a pounding or uneven heartbeat.

    Diuretics:

Diuretics are used to treat blood pressure problems by stimulating the kidneys to flush excess fluid and sodium from the human body. Less blood volume allows the heart to move the blood easier throughout the body. Loss of potassium, dry mouth and dehydration are the most common side effects of diuretics.

    Calcium Channel Blockers:

Calcium channel blockers (CCBs) keeps the blood vessels and heart from absorbing calcium which causes the blood vessels to relax. Calcium causes the heart to contract and the blood vessels to contract. CCBs are also used to slow the heart rate and are used for treating an abnormally rapid heart rate. The most common side effect of calcium channel blockers are headache, nausea, constipation, rash, dizziness and fluid retention.

    Alpha Blockers:

Alpha blockers stop certain nerve impulses to the blood vessels causing the vessels to relax. Alpha blockers stop a natural hormone called nor-epinephrine from stimulating the muscles in the walls of the of the smaller blood vessels. The most common side effect of alpha blockers is low blood pressure, dizziness, headache, pounding heart beat, nausea, fatigue, fluid retention and an increase of the cholesterol levels in the blood. Some alpha blockers can increase the risk of heart failure with long term use.

    Vasodilators:

Vasodilators directly cause the muscles in the blood vessels walls to relax thus preventing the muscles from tightening and the walls of the blood vessels from narrowing. Side effects of vasodilators are headache, nasal congestion, chest pain, rapid hear beat, pounding heart beat, fluid retention and dizziness. Long term use increase the risk of developing a connective tissue disease called lupus.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with high blood pressure such as diuretics, copper, vitamin B, vitamin A, Quercitin, Potassium, Lecithin and Iron.

Natural diuretics are contained in cranberries, anything that has caffeine and apple cider vinegar. Fruits and vegetables such as watermelon and cucumbers contain a lot of water and will help increase urination. If you are taking COUMADIN then check with your doctor before using cranberry.

There is strong evidence that trace mineral Copper is vital to the tensile strength of the coronary blood vessels.

Vitamin B taken together as a team perform vital biological processes including aiding in the healing process for congestive heart failure and reduces fluid retention. It is required for the development of red blood cells.

Vitamin C has show to reduce cholesterol levels and lowers high blood pressure.

Quercitin is a well known flavonoid. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants and can reduce inflammation boost the immune system and strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation. Quercitin is also known for its ability to block the release of histamines, thus reducing or preventing allergy symptoms. Take 500 mg twice daily.

Potassium may help prevent high blood pressure and protect against atherosclerosis and reduce the risk of stroke.

Lecithin has the potential to protect against fat clogged arteries when take daily.

Iron is an essential component of hemoglobin, the oxygen carrying substance in red blood cells. Iron is vital for the production of blood by the bone marrow. The single most common cause of anemia is the lack of Iron.

Lifestyle changes can also lower the risk of medical emergencies do to arteriosclerosis. Quit smoking, eat healthy foods, weight loss and get regular exercise. This treatment is often problematic for many to achieve and continue for the long term.

Help For Diabetics With Low Calcium Blood Levels

A number of sicknesses and diseases hamper the precise assimilation of calcium and effect bone loss in the long run. The use of synthetic vitamin D, known as Rocaltrol, is a big help for people who suffer from abnormally low calcium blood levels.

Rocaltrol is a medication that comes to the rescue of anyone who suffers from health problems that block the usual body balance of calcium levels in the blood such as having kidney deterioration that requires dialysis or hypoparathyroidism.

This drug has been successful in the treatment of various kidney diseases that strike the calcium blood level in people that don't require dialysis. During the treatment with this drug it is common that the doctor will suggest a diet rich in calcium or different supplements to help you in utilize this mineral. The treatment should always be started at the lowest possible dose and should not be increased without careful monitoring of calcium levels.

You must not take any other medicines containing vitamin D or foods that are fortified with vitamin D while you are taking this medication. Your doctor will estimate your daily consumption of calcium before you take this medicine to see, whether you will demand a lot of calcium.

Medical tests will be conducted on occasion, since high calcium levels can also be risky for your health. Therefore, it is good to get only calcium supplements or medications that are recommended by your doctor. The treatment requires precise care at maintaining a right hydration level. As a result, make sure you drink adequate fluid every day. Usually, this drug is prescribed in a single daily dosage, which may be taken with or without food, preferably in the morning. You will probably need to avoid food and drink that block calcium absorption in the blood including coffee, tea, fizzy drinks like cola, and anything else that may contain caffeine.

    Possible Side Effects

    - During the treatment with Rocaltrol you may have to drop all other vitamin D supplements in order not to take a higher amount than the one your body really needs.

    - Rocaltrol may cause different detrimental reactions for patients on dialysis who are taking antacids that contain magnesium such as Maalox. It is a good idea to keep from taking antacids as much as you can while taking this drug.

    - The ideal calcium intake during this management is 600 mg on a everyday basis, which can be assimilated either from dairy products or mineral supplements.

    - Diuretics, anti-depressive drugs and steroid medications ought not be taken in combination with Rocaltrol due to the increased risk of developing side effects.

    - Bone pain and constipation are among the most persistent side effects associated with Rocaltrol.

    - Sleepiness, loss of appetite and metallic taste could also affect you during the first days of the treatment.

    - Should any of the side effects get worse, or should you experience some unfamiliar response, contact the doctor immediately.

Thanks for taking the time to read my article. You should continue searching for additional information that will help you.

There Is No Best Way To Stop Smoking

There really is no best way to stop smoking. The only "best way" is for the smoker to say, "I really, really want to quit smoking" and actually mean it. The twp main things every one else can offer is support and advice. As a smoker, be clear about why you want to quit when you listen to their advice and support, listing as many reasons as you can, and then making a plan to accomplish your goal. On the list of why you want to quit, try to include achieving better health and fitness, wanting to live longer, less risk of cancer and heart disease, no nicotine stained fingers or teeth, better smelling breath, healthier babies and setting examples for the family, healthier skin with fewer wrinkles, increased budget income, etc.

We need to prepare ourselves mentally by setting an actual date we are going to quit. Make it a special day, a day of personal achievement - it can be our birthday or anniversary; a holiday or one of our children's birthdays; and can also be on No Smoking Day, the second Wednesday of every March. It really does not matter, as long as it means something to us. Reducing our smoking without setting a date to quit may not work, because our smoking is likely to increase once again. Be aware of the fact that it is easy to give in to temptation and start smoking again, especially when we are tense and upset. We stand to lose all that we have gained, if we have one single cigarette. And then we will have to start all over again.

Making a plan is easy - sticking to it is something else. If we were serious about wanting to quit smoking, we would follow it to the "T" - and hope to achieve our goal, by knowing what to expect and preparing ourselves to face the withdrawal symptoms. Most people find the first few days as the most difficult, with things becoming better after the first three or four days. Nicotine withdrawal symptoms may include irritation, restlessness, frustration, sleeplessness, and being "fumbly stumbly" accident-prone.

To curb these withdrawals and ease the distress, use NRT, or nicotine replacement therapy, in the form of gum, patches, lozenges, inhalers, etc. that can double our chances of success, by reducing the intensity of our cravings. Go to counseling and behavior therapy classes. Use Nicotinell, Nicorette and NiQuitin CQ as some of the nicotine product aids. Another option is to use the drug Zyban, which is available on prescription. All of these aids are available.

Regardless which NRT method we use, we need to find something to do and stay as busy as possible, to take the place of smoking. Games, woodwork, online surveys, taking extra adult classes, volunteering at literary workshops, etc. We can drink a lot of water, tea, or juice, or chew gum. Whatever we enjoy doing should be approached at this time. Try to stay busy doing what we like. To avoid weight gain that usually accompanies quitting smoking, try not to grab food instead of a cigarette, and if you do - change your diet by grabbing raw vegetables and lots of fruit, drink lots of juices and water, avoid alcohol, and exercise much more.

Avoid situations where we may be tempted to smoke such as bars, nightclubs, hotels, and certain eating establishments. All of this is common sense, but when we are in the withdrawal mode, we do not think, we react only to the pain and distress our body is going through. Care for it gently, by compensating these feelings with something health and pleasurable. Family and friends will support you to deal with nicotine withdrawal symptoms if you let them.

Is This High Blood Pressure Medicine Right For You?

    What is Aldactone?

Aldactone (generic name: Spirionolactone) is a water pill (diuretic) and antiandrogen. The medicine is also marketed under other names such as Novo-Spiroton, Spirotone, Spiractin and Berlactone.

Aldactone is known as a potassium-sparing diuretic, as the term suggests, this medication keeps your potassium levels from getting too low while preventing your body from absorbing too much salt .

While regularly prescribed for high-blood-pressure patients, the drug can also be prescribed along with other drugs. However, the drug is useful only for controlling, rather than curing, high blood pressure. Aldactone has to be taken regularly for its effect to become apparent. Blood pressure cannot be brought under control quickly. It is also advisable to keep using Aldactone even after you have started feeling better.

Aldactone also treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, or a kidney disorder called nephrotic syndrome. This medication is also used to treat or prevent hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood).

    What is Aldactone prescribed for?

Aldactone is also used for the diagnosis as well as the treatment of Hyperaldosteronism. This is a condition in which you have too much aldosterone in your body. Aldosterone is a hormone produced by your adrenal glands to help regulate the salt and water balance in your body. Excessive amounts of Aldosterone can increase the fluid retention in the body and is a contributing factor of high blood pressure or hypertension.

    Precautions

The safety and effectiveness of Aldactone is dependant upon a strict adherence to a medication schedule and should never be used without a prescription and consultation of your doctor. To avoid any complications and possible worsening of the condition it is essential to follow a specific schedule for dosage and avoid any sudden discontinuation of the drug. If a dose is missed, Aldactone should be taken as soon as possible, however, doubling-up on the dosage can be dangerous and is not recommended.

Certain foods should be avoided while taking the medicine. In case of surgery or other medical emergencies, the doctor should be informed beforehand about the usage of the drug.

    What are the Side effects?

Because aldactone is designed to alter the levels of potassium in your system, some side effects may occur as your body adjusts to these changes. These may include symptoms such as excessive thirst and dry mouth, arrythmia, cramps or muscle pain all conditions related to the change in the levels of potassium in the body.

Other potential side effects may include breast development in among male users, deepening of voice, excessive hairiness, irregular menstruation, fever, headache, diarrhea, drowsiness, bleeding or inflammation of the stomach and liver, and skin problems.

    Last word

Patients who have problems related to the heart, kidney or liver, and a high level of potassium in the blood should not be prescribed the drug.

Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, keep using this medication even if you feel fine. High blood pressure often has no symptoms but can be treated effectively without adversely affecting your active lifestyle.
